WHY CLEVER SETS, PROPS AND COSTUMES?

Eco-Zone has a strong commitment to encouraging schools to keep consumption of new materials to an affordable minimum with particular focus on the reuse of materials for all school performances and creative arts activities.

With reference to Wakakirri National Story Festival, the Eco-Zone is proud to offer schools participating in Story-Dance special awards and monetary prizes for excellence in resourcefulness and reuse! Eco-Zone supports the philosophy that expensive or elaborate sets, props and costumes are neither essential nor encouraged for a successful Wakakirri Story-Dance item – this is reflected in the Wakakirri Story-Dance judging guidelines, criteria and rules.

Some points to consider before embarking on the creative journey of any performance:
• Sets, props and costumes should enhance the performance;
• Sets, props and costumes should be well used;
• Sets, props and costumes should not be a financial burden to school communities;
