TRANSPORTING SETS, PROPS AND COSTUMES
If participating in Wakakirri whatever you create for your item needs
to be transported to and from the show. Avoid having to hire a truck or
van – creating smaller sets and props and ones that can fold up
to travel with the kids on the bus or in the car are ideal. If you do
need an extra vehicle, ask your parent community to help you out with
a ute or four-wheel drive.
If possible, have students wear their costume to the venue in preparation
for rehearsal. Not only does this mean that you don’t have to worry
about transporting costumes in a separate vehicle but it will also save
you time (and stress) at the venue as you prepare to go in for rehearsal.
You could bring along some small mobile wardrobes to hang the costumes
between rehearsal and performance if you are remaining at the venue for
the day.
If it is not possible for the students to come already costumed, look
at storing costumes inside your set pieces to minimize space requirements.
